God’s loving character and goodness is comparable with His glory and name in Scriptures.
When Moses asked God – Show me Thy glory, the Lord answered:
I will make all My goodness pass before thee. Exodus 33:18, 19.
His merciful and compassionate attributes are summed up in the following verse: He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:8.
This post explains how Calvary reveals the truth about God’s personality and character.

No one hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him. John 1:18.
Furthermore, Jesus claimed that:
I and my Father are one. He that hath seen me hath seen the Father. John 10:30;
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. Hebrews 1:1, 2.
Therefore, Jesus is the ultimate revelation of God, who has manifested to the world that God is love.
He came to convince humans of this truth by undeniable evidence displayed on the cross of Calvary.
Thus our world and Heaven have witnessed God’s love, as He crucified Himself in the person of His Son.

God’s love to humanity displayed on Golgotha
Jesus came to teach humans what God desires them to know, bringing before them the perfection of God in His own character.
He gave to the world a revelation of God Himself in human flesh (nature).
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men;
And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:6-8.
Thus He completed the eternal plan, being true to Himself and the Father as a member of the Godhead.
Who is the brightness of God’s glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power; Hebrews 1:2, 3.
Therefore, the love of the Father to humanity is no different than the love of His Son.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:9.
This is the plan of human redemption the Godhead devised from eternity.
Jesus became the Lamb of God, who took the sin of the world.
For His love to you and the joy set before Him to be with you for eternity, constrained Him to endure the cross.
Moreover, He fulfilled the plan of salvation, and became the slain Lamb, as ordained to be before even creating us and our planet.
Christ is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8.

Our concept of God’s character shapes the entire spiritual life
Can we trust God without true understanding of His character and believing that He is really who He claims to be.
How can we walk with God and have the joy of being His friends, if we don’t know Him?
Our spiritual life is built on the opinion of who we believe God to be.
Though all created things testify to God’s power, wisdom and love, we can learn of God’s personality as it was revealed in Christ.
Read on Understanding God’s Love Through His Son.
We behold the light of the glorious gospel of Him, who is the image of God; 2 Corinthians 4:4.
Therefore, we should no longer ask what Philip asked: Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. John 14:8.
Furthermore, Jesus makes it clear: Believe Me that I Am in the Father, and the Father in Me. John 10:11.
Thus Christ’s incarnation, suffering and crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension reveal to us the attributes of God’s Divine character.
So we can exclaim, great is the mystery of godliness, as the apostle did.
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 1 Timothy 3:16.
And the crowning act of Emmanuel’s – God with us – mission was His atoning sacrifice for the sin of the entire world.
Thus we see the true character of God in the light that shines from Calvary.
How does the Law of God reveal His character?
The infinite love to humanity and their redemption, impelled the Father and the Son to a sacrifice that has no parallel.
It demonstrates to all the Universe that nothing less than this plan of atonement is sufficient to maintain love, justice and mercy as the foundation of the Law and government of God.
The law of love is the main principle of His government of the entire Cosmos.
Love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:10.
God is love, and His law is love. The Law of God reflects His personality and moral standards.
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth. Psalm 119:142.
The law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Romans 7:12.
The Law of God looks into the secrets of the heart. Every act is unmistakably evaluated by the motives that prompt it.
Moreover, His Law is spiritual.
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. Romans 7:14.
Christ came to our world to declare God’s loving character as represented in His holy Law.
Thus, by His life on earth He honoured the Law, and by His death He confirmed the Law as immutable.

Jesus sacrificed His life on Calvary, not to destroy God’s Law or create a lower standard.
Furthermore, He has done it to maintain God’s justice, showing the law of love unchangeable, and standing fast forever.

Conclusion on Calvary’s revelation on God’s True Character
God’s true character and His love to humanity became evident in the light of the truth that shines from Calvary.
Jesus brought before the world the perfection of God in His own character and conduct.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:9.
Thus the truth of God’s personality – the light of His love, goodness, mercy – was dispersed into the spiritual darkness of the world.
O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee;
But I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
And I have declared unto them Thy name (equal to character in the Bible), and will declare it;
That the love wherewith thou hast loved Me may be in them, and I in them. John 17:25, 26.
