The apostle Paul tells us that we are carnal, sold under sin. Romans 7:14. Then, he explains his struggles:
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind;
and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
O wretched man that I am, who shell deliver me from this body of death? Romans 7:22-24.
This is the burdened hearts cry in all places and all ages. To all, there is but one answer:
Behold the Lamb of God, which takes the sin of the world. John 1:29.
Jesus is the Savior – the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. The Lamb who God provide to humanity out of His love.
This insight came to Jacob in a dream as an answer of the need and longing of his soul.
With joy and gratitude he saw the way by which he, a sinner, can be restored to communion with God.
The mystic ladder of his dream represents Christ – the son of God who connects Heaven with fallen humans.
Jesus stated of Himself boldly:
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me. John 14:6.
