Understanding the Perfect Mind of Christ: Divine and Human Mind Aligned

Group of people before three megaphones.

I hope you enjoy reading this post. If you want to delve deeper into this topic – we can help, just get in touch.

The mind of God has designed a plan to help humanity before their creation. The Father and the Son covenanted to save the world, which hasn’t been brought into existence yet.

The Divine Son of God would take human nature. He would live a righteous life and shed His blood as a ransom for the sin (unrighteousness) of the world.

Thus He would become the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8.

And today we are in the midst of the controversy between good and evil. So, either God or Satan controls the mind.

The people of God, who have joined themselves to Christ are one with Him. Thus as the mind is enlightened by the Holy Spirit they discern the Divine influence.

Conversely, Satan constantly diverts minds from Divine to human, that humanity may not cooperate with Heaven.

In His inspired Word, God invites us to have the mind that is in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:5). He also gives us warning that as the serpent beguiled Eve, he leads astray our minds from Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Jesus is the role model for Christians in all things. Developing a mind as His, helps us in our heavenward journey, becoming like Him. (Ephesians 4:13).

Moreover, preparing us to live with Him and the Father for eternity. (1 John 5:11, Revelation 21:22).

    Condescending from Heaven to earth

The Son of God has taken human nature and became one of the human family. This was a part of the redemptive plan for humanity. He and God the Father have set it even before the world began. (2 Timothy 1:9).

So, the plan of salvation has been in the mind of Godhead before they created humankind and their home planet. Later on, at His appointed time, the promised redeemer came.

Thus the Son of God became Emanuel – God with us. Additionally, He completed His saving mission to our broken world. Jesus redeemed humanity, taking on Himself the sin of the world. (Matthew 1:23; John 1:29).

In His entire life and death, He was true to Himself and God the Father. In Christ is all the glory of the Father and He is the express image of His person. (Hebrews 1:3).

He gave the most true representation of the Godhead in words and conduct. Thus Jesus revealed the loving character of God. For the joy to be with you for eternity, He endured the cross. (John 1:18; Hebrews 12:2).

Through His death on Calvary, Jesus became victorious over sin and Satan, the originator of sin. He won the great battle between good and evil. (Galatians 1:4).

Thus He became a personal Savior for those who believe in His name. (1 John 3:8; John 1:12).

Christ has been resurrected and ascended back to Heaven. He is at the right hand of the Majesty and intercedes on behalf of His people. (Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 7:25).

Furthermore, Jesus will come to earth again to take His own, rewarding them with eternal life. Those are they who followed the Lamb wherever He went. (Revelation 14:4).

Do you think there’s anyone with bigger experience than Jesus’ Divine and human experience?

Therefore, God enjoins Christ followers to have His mind. For example:

    • Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7.
    • And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: listen to Him. Luke 9:35.

Getting the mind around “Christ being all and in all”

Jesus Christ is the beloved Divine Son of God, the member of the Godhead. He is also a human being, a member of the human family. So, He is Divine and human at the same time.

Thus Jesus Christ is the embodiment of the Goadhead and humanity. (John 1:1, 14)

He and the Father are one. It is so not only because they have the same nature (essence or substance). But, because they have the very same loving character and relationship, motives and purpose for humanity. (John 10:30; John 3:35; John 5:20).

They covenanted out of their love to help the broken world. And the world has witnessed it on the cross. The infinite love of God paid the ultimate price for human redemption.

Thus Calvary demonstrated the true character of God. (Romans 16:25; Colossians 1:14)

Jesus Christ is unique, one of a kind. He demonstrated and explained throughout His entire life, teaching and miracles healing:

    • God’s glory (goodness of character), righteousness and justice. (2 Corinthians 4:6; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:26).
    • His desire to have humanity back with no matter of the cost to Himself. (1 John 3:1; Isaiah 53:5-9).

Most importantly, He revealed God’s other-centered love, by becoming humanity’s atoning sacrifice. Christ gave up His life as the Lamb of God, taking away the sin of our broken world. John 1:29.

    For example:

    • For He (God) hath made Him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21.
    • All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned every one to his own way. And the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6.

Thus through His death, He destroyed the one, who has the power of death – the devil. (Hebrews 2:14).

Moreover He became the connecting link between the holy God and fallen humanity. Jesus is the Mediator and the High Priest of His followers. (Hebrews 7:25; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:14; Hebrews 6:20).

He has all the power of Heaven and earth. He will come again to take His people, rewarding them with eternal life. John 14:3. John 10:28.

    So, when you think:

    • God – you think Christ.
    • Humanity – you think Christ.
    • The relationship of God and humanity – you think Christ.

    The express image of God

In Christ is all the glory of the Father and He is the express image of His person.

Unto the Son He (Father) saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. A sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Hebrews 1:8.

Who, being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power.

When He had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:3.

Thus He is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30.

For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell. In Christ are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 1:19; 2:3.

Though He came in the likeness of men, He declared Himself the “I AM”. The meek and lowly Savior is God manifest in the flesh.

He said: Before Abraham was, I AM. John 8:58.

Christ sends His messages of love. He directs the attention of humanity to the nobler world. This is a world they have lost from their vision.

Thus He uplifts our minds absorbed in worldly pursuits and bids us to look into Heaven by faith.

The mind follows a law. It gradually adapts to the subjects it is trained to dwell upon.

What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:36, 37.

In other words, the duties of this life must be placed in relation to their eternal interests.

Having the mind of Christ concept

Christ has met people where they were. He brought to human family moral power to become sons and daughters of God. They would have the distinct attributes of renewed minds and hearts.

One has the mind of Christ when in close relation to Him. Scriptures describe it as becoming “one with Christ” as He was “one with the Father”. John 17:21-23.

On the cross, they undeniably demonstrated their oneness in love, motives and purpose to give the broken world another chance. Thus they completed what their wisdom had designed, working in unison.

Jesus also talled His followers to abide in Him. (John 15:4-7). Thus through the natural world motif He taught a spiritual lesson.

The Bible points out that spiritual things are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14).

God’s people gain the right perception through the enlightenment of His Spirit. This enables them to understand clearly the message of His Word. Ultimately, the Spirit is the teacher of all truth. (John 16:13).

So, by conversion and transformation people are to receive the mind of Chris, having:

    • Soundness of Bible principles.
    • Clear spiritual perceptions.
    • Wisdom which comes from God.

Thus they will be persuaded in their own mind and not tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine. (Romans 14:5; Ephesians 4:14).

So, they are able to stand by faith in the power of God. It is through the revelation of His Word and the help of His Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:5, 13).

Moreover, to stand with experience, knowing for themselves that Christ is formed within (them), the hope of glory. 2 Corinthians 5:21.

Through the power of His Word

Come to Jesus just as you are, and He will receive you. Your spiritual life is sustained by communion with Him through His Word.

    For example:

    • Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4.
    • Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. John 6:53.

They teach in a metaphoric way that sustainable spiritual life needs spiritual food that comes from God.

Additionally, only those who have fortified the mind with the truths of the Bible will endure. They will stand through the last great conflict.

The test will come to everyone – Will I obey God rather than men? (Revelation 13 and 14).

We can stand only in God, understanding His will as revealed in His Word.

Therefore, Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. Colossians 3:16.

Moreover, Search the Scriptures; for…they are those which testify of me (Christ). John 5:39.

The bread of life alone can satisfy the hungering soul. The water of life alone will quench the thirst of the thirsty soul. (John 6:35; John 4:14).

Blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it. Luke 11:28.

When surrounded with temptations, the Holy Spirit will bring to one’s mind the very words to meet the temptation. This guidance occurs at the moment when the words are most needed.

Therefore, we need constant communion with Jesus just as much as we need daily food to nourish our bodies.

    Let’s stay connected

Through the indwelling of His Spirit

The minds of Christ’s disciples were illuminated by surrendering themselves to the Holy Spirit’s power. So, they realized after His ascension that God was in the flesh among them. (1 Timothy 3:16).

In harmony with the Word of God, His Spirit continues its work throughout the entire period of the Gospel dispensation.

Thus the promise of Jesus to send the Holy Spirit to be always with His followers fulfills day after day. (John 16:13, 14; Romans 8:14; Galatians 4:6).

God’s Word has a depth of meaning which only His Spirit can reveal to us. For instance:

The things of God know no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God. That we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:11, 12.

The Holy Spirit is the only effective teacher of divine truth. The Spirit sets the truth home in mind and heart, quickening the conscience and life. (John 6:63; Romans 8:11).

Thus God connects the soul with Himself. For example:

    • Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6.
    • But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18.
    • You know the Spirit of truth; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 14:17.

So, the Spirit conforms the renewed mind and heart to the model Jesus Christ. Thus you

    • Put off the old man.
    • Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
    • Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:22-25.

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

    Beholding the Divine Model

We are to become changed by beholding Christ – wholly transformed and renewed in the image of His purity. For example:

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18.

Thus by faith in the Son of God transformation takes place in our characters. Moreover,  we become spiritually minded, discerning spiritual things.

The wisdom of God enlightens our minds and we behold wondrous things out of His law. Psalm 119:18.

Transformation work continues with our sanctification by the truth. And we have an increased measure of understanding.

Furthermore, as the Spirit of Christ works upon our hearts, we become obedient to God. His will becomes our will.

Thus we become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:4.

Then let it be our effort to lift up Jesus. Let the mind be directed to the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. John 1:29.

On the other hand, if we focus on the moral imperfections of others, our minds will become similar. We will be changed into the same image.

If we allow our minds to focus on worldly cares, there will be no time for the spiritual. There will be also no time for the eternal.

Thus we rob ourselves of grace and power. We deny others the light that should be reflected through us to the world.

    Of a ready mind

Those who choose God for their current time and future, must trust in Him alone. Everyone professing godliness must have an experience of their own.

Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

    • God was manifest in the flesh.
    • Justified in the Spirit.
    • Seen of angels.
    • Preached unto the Gentiles.
    • Believed in the world.
    • Received up into glory. 1 Timothy 3:16.

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7.

If the mind which was also in Christ Jesus be in you, you will practice the lessons of Christ. Additionally your life will be knit by hidden links to the life of Jesus.

He who commanded the light to shine out of darkness is willing to shine in your heart, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6.

Let the mind dwell upon the sufferings of our precious Savior.

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Corinthians 4:17.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13.

    Our doubting minds

God has given us abundant evidence of His love on Calvary. The light of the cross should dispel every doubt from our mind.

Our hope is founded on the inspired Scriptures. Jesus speaks of His people as a brand plucked out of the fire. Zechariah 3:2.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime, were written for our learning. That we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4.

The Son of God endured immense sufferings in Gethsemane and on Calvary. He did this to rescue His people from the power of Satan.

God loves us and He wants to save us. Let us lay hold on the merit of a crucified and risen Savior. He is our perfection who has brought us righteousness at an infinite cost.

Thus as we repent before God for the transgression of His law, and lay hold by faith on the righteousness of Christ, He says:

Take away the filthy garments from them, and clothe them with a change of raiment. Zechariah 3:4.

Satan discourages everyone that seeks to come to God, telling us that we are sinners, unworthy of His love.

Furthermore, he deceives people so that they will not repent and believe that they may have their filthy garments removed.

Therefore, reach over the doubts that he suggests to your mind, and grasp the promise of God:

The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7.

Conclusion on the mind of Christ

We cannot confess Christ unless we have the mind and Spirit of Christ.

When you get the mind of Christ, your will aligns with His will. Your character is transformed to reflect His character.

Therefore, Be not conformed to this world. But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,

that ye may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2.

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. Ephesians 4:13.

For, To be carnally minded is death. But to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6.
