Overview
The authenticity of God’s redemptive plan for humanity has been set even before their creation. It is motivated by love and devised by His wisdom and foreknowledge.
And the work of human redemption was marvelously executed by God’s only-begotten Son – Jesus Christ.
God has promised the deliverer right after the fall into sin in the garden of Eden. He announced Him in Genesis 3:15.
And He was no other than the beloved and victorious Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8.
So Jesus – the Divine Son of God became human Redeemer by paying the ransom price.
He shed His blood on the cross as our substitute, releasing humanity from the bondage of sin.
He also himself likewise took part of flesh and blood. That through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. Hebrews 2:13, 14.
Jesus brought humans back to God for the adoption in the beloved family. Through His substitutionary death we are reconciled to God.
Those who receive Him as such and believe Him become God’s children, calling Him – “Abba Father“.

The plan of redemption wasn’t devised after the fall of our first parents
Human redemption is guaranteed by the same love God has created them in the first place. He foresaw the fall and set forth a plan for their deliverance from sin.
Right after their distrustful and disobedient acts, God has promised Adam and Eve that the redeemer will come.
For example, speaking to the serpent (that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, Revelation 12:9;) God said:
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her Seed .
He shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel. Genesis 3:15.
Thus on the cross the Seed (Jesus) of the women (church) defeated sin by His self-sacrificing love.
Therefore, the Bible tells us that “Jesus is the Lamb”:
- Slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation
- Who takes away the sin of the world. John 1:29.
- A lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18.
- Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifested in these last times for you. 1 Peter 1:19.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son;
that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
Thus for the joy to be with you for eternity He endured the cross. Hebrews 12:2.

God is the ultimate redeemer of humans, the One who created them
But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not;
For I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. Isaiah 43:1.
Thus we have the assurance that God who made us took the initiative to redeem us.
Here is another example from the Old Testament Book Of Isaiah:
For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is His name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel;
The God of the whole earth shall He be called. Isaiah 54:5.
It is fascinating how the prophet describes Jesus in one short text. He calls Him: Maker, Husband, Lord, Redeemer, Holy One and God.
So, God redeems His creation. He is not choosing one of many species that some believe might have evolved in the universe.
There is no choice, but the humankind created in God’s image, after His likeness. (See The Old Testament Book of Genesis 1:26, 27.)
He dealt with humans throughout their:
- Creation.
- Redemption.
- Glorious transformation and eternal restoration.
For example:
Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and His Redeemer the Lord of hosts;
I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Isaiah 44:6
In other words, I began with you when I created you. I am delivering you.
Additionally, there’s no one else beside Me that:
- Loves you as much as I do.
- Have my wisdom, desire and ability to achieve it.
- Willing to pay the highest price possible.
Therefore, God’s great work of human redemption can be more clearly understood by His work of their creation.
Jesus paid the highest price to purchase back humanity
Who can measure the love Christ felt for the lost world.
What place do humans have in His heart, that He paid with His life for their redemption?
The answers of those and other similar questions converge in one amazing thing. His love He saves us.
This Love is immeasurable and infinite. His love was stronger than death.
Jesus’ humanity went through the most fearful conflict with the powers of darkness.
He endured the hiding of His Father’s countenance, caused by the sin of the entire world.
In this time of bitterness he exclaimed:
My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me? Matthew 27:46.
Nevertheless, His love grew stronger. In Gethsemane, Jesus chose to trust unreservedly to His Father.
Later on Calvary, the price for the sin of the entire world was paid to buy the redemption of humanity.

He uttered the blessed words: It is finished. John 19:30.
So, Ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price. 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20.
Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. 1 Peter 1:18, 19.

Spiritual lessons of redemption from everyday life of ancient Hebrews before and at Jesus’ time
The temple of God on earth was a pattern of the original in Heaven. For example:
- The Lord spoke unto Moses, saying: Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle. Exodus 25:1, 8, 9.
- Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle. See, said He, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. Hebrews 8:5.
All ceremonies of the ancient Jewish laws were prophetic and typical of the remarkable truths in the plan of redemption.
They set the groundwork for true spiritual understanding of redemption. Additionally, showing its relation to the work of Chris.
Thus the significance of His death will be understood by saints and angels. The death of Christ upon the cross made sure the destruction of him who:
- Has the power of death.
- Was the originator of sin.
The sanctuary in Heaven is the great original for the copy that Moses has built on earth.
In the heavenly sanctuary Jesus ministers on our behalf even now. (See the New Testament Book of Hebrews 8:1-5.)
The earthly sanctuary services came to an end when Christ cried It is finished. The redemption price was paid and God’s justice and mercy have blended harmoniously.
Thus He could be just, and yet the justifier of all who would believe in Christ. Romans 3:26.
Fallen humans could not have a home in the paradise of God. This was only possible with the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
My redemption from sin and iniquities
I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Psalm 51:5.
This is the law of sin which is in my nature. I was born with it, grew up and lived this way.
So, I am carnal, sold under sin. Romans 7:14. In other words I am a sinner. And there’s nothing I can do on my own to change it.
So I cry the way apostle Paul did in the New Testament Book of Romans:
O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? Romans 7:24.
This is my condition throughout my entire life if I don’t choose Christ as my redeemer.
He bought back humanity from the bondage of sin, death and Satan. With His shed blood He paid the ransom price for the sin of every individual.
For example:
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested to
- Destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8.
- Take away our sins; and in Him is no sin. 1 John 3:5.
So, I am bought with a price paid by Jesus, as God has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 1 Corinthians 6:20; Isaiah 53:6.
And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20.
So, I am justified by His blood and will be sanctified by His Divine grace. For example:
I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins. Return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. Isaiah 44:22.
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity. And purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:14.

God will restore His character in His redeemed saints
And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities. Psalm 130:8
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication;
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. 1 Thessalonians 4:3, 7.
Christ followers are chosen to be sanctified through obedience to the Word of truth by the aid of His Spirit.
Sing, O ye heavens; for the Lord hath done it. For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified Himself in Israel. Isaiah 44:23
God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. That we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.
And wherein He has made us accepted in the beloved. Ephesians 1:3, 4, 6.
So, by beholding Jesus’ character and abiding in Him through His Word (aka the Bible), we are:
- Changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18.
- New creatures in Christ: old things have passed away; Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Conclusion on God’s redemption
God redeemed humanity by the mediation of His beloved Son in human nature. He has delivered His creation back from the bondage of sin and Satan.
Christ’s substitutionary death on the cross is significant. He has made the ransom payment for the sins of all who believe in His name.
Thus through death He has destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:9.
And God will be glorified by His redeemed saints in whom He has restored His own character.
